A Junglist Platoon founding member, DJ Clutch, AKA
Steven Valenzuela, experienced the club sounds of break beat techno spun
by the pioneer D.J.s of the L.A.
jungle scene, R.A.W., CRS, & Oscar Da Grouch. Over time his focus turned
from clubbing to promoting the music with his fellow Junglist Platoon brethren
while collecting & spinning the vinyl that fueled the movement. Many
crews have come & gone in Los Angeles over the past few years yet Clutch
and the Platoon have maintained their presence and influence on the L.A.
scene. After the addition of a few key members to the crew in 1998, club
RESPECT was established in 1999. RESPECT continues to be L.A.s longest
running jungle club. Sharing a rotating residency at RESPECT with No Face,
Scooba, Machete, Drone, and Oscar Da Grouch. DJ Clutch has played along
side the likes of Grooverider, Bailey, and Dom and Roland to name a few.
Look out for studio productions with engineer Sense on the Cal-Tek and
Ridem labels. With forth-coming tracks on the back burner, 2006 looks to
be a promising year for Clutch and crew.
